Gunning down a dance date!

SCOTTISH rock band, GUN, featuring Biggar-based drummer, Paul McManus, were delighted to have their hit single, Word Up, showcased on last Sunday’s edition of the TV show, Dancing On Ice.

Rapper Vanilla Ice selected the song for his first performance on the ice in which he scored a very respectable 15 points.

GUN earned a prestigious MTV award for the song and it was subsequently used in the mid 1990s film Barbed Wire which featured Pamela Anderson.

Commenting on behalf of the band, Paul said: “We were thrilled that Vanilla Ice used our track and it was great to hear it on national TV again!

“We know it’s always been a firm favourite with our fans and, who knows, we might just have made some more fans after Sunday night.”

GUN are currently rehearsing for their forthcoming tour which kicks off with two sold out shows in Glasgow’s ABC on January 31 and February 1, followed immediately by shows in Norway, Ireland and Spain.

They are also booked to record their new record during March with legendary producer Chris Sheldon who was also responsible for the original production on Word Up.
