Kirsten Oswald MP has written to the chief executive of East Renfrewshire Council regarding “inconsiderate, dangerous and reckless parking” at Carolside Primary School.

In the letter, Ms Oswald said : “This is an issue I first raised with East Renfrewshire Council’s Roads Planning and Transportation Service a number of months ago, highlighting reports of an increase in the number of incidents of inconsiderate parking outside the school and the dangers this poses to the safety of pupils.

“The response I received from the Council’s Roads Planning and Transportation Service indicated that this is a long-standing issue at the school due to it being located in a residential area with little provision for drop-off and no areas where parking can be created.”

Ms Oswald has also met with Bryan McLachlan, acting head teacher at Carolside Primary, to discuss the matter further.

He said: “The school will continue working with parents and pupils to promote better transport choices and discourage inconsiderate parking during the school run.”
