Busby Hotel makes wishes come true for families

For the second year running The Busby Hotel has welcomed children and their families from the When You Wish Upon a Star charity to enjoy a Disney-themed afternoon tea.

A total of 22 families from all over Scotland travelled to the hotel in Busby, where they were treated to a day of Disney characters, music, dancing, games, prizes, food, face-painting and lots of fun.

When You Wish Upon a Star is one of the chosen charities supported by the Busby Hotel.

The Busby team fundraise by doing charity walks and cycles – and they also arrange special events where they spend time meeting the families and granting wishes.

All the children made a fantastic effort for the day and arrived suitably dressed for the occasion.

There was an array of colourful princesses, wonder women, supermen, and Toy Story favourites, Buzz Lightyear and Woody.

The Busby team also got in on the action, and transformed themselves into characters such as Snow White, Elsa, Superman, Spiderman and Scooby Doo.

While the event was more about giving children and their families a memorable day, a total of £400 was also raised for the charity.

Juliet Parry, general manager, The Busby Hotel said: “We’ve built up a great relationship with the When You Wish Upon a Star charity and all our team are invested in doing what we can to support them. This is the second year we have hosted this Disney Afternoon Tea, and it’s an event we all look forward to. We’re very touched and humbled by the children and families who come to visit us, and if we can bring smiles to faces, we’ve done what we set out to do.”

Judith King, from the Wish Upon a Star charity in Scotland, said: “The aim of the day was to create and make precious magical memories, putting illnesses to one side and bringing smiles and laughter to our very brave and courageous children and their families. The team at The Busby Hotel have made it happen and more, and we can’t thank them enough, we are truly honoured that they have chosen to support us”.
