Author Ursula Buchan discusses latest book in Biggar

GREEN fingered garden enthusiasts will be flocking to Biggar tonight to have a chat and speak to garden author and lecturer Ursula Buchan.

Ursula will be introducing her latest book A Green and Pleasant Land and discussing the Dig for Victory project in World War Two at the town’s Atkinson-Pryce bookshop.

The book looks at civilian life during World War Two, as viewed through the prism of gardening, both public and private and in the process sheds light on larger issues that were gripping the country as Britain fought alongside America and the USSR to defeat Nazi Germany, Italy and Japan.

She will be at the bookshop on Thursday, April 24, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 which includes a discount off the book and also includes refreshments.
