NORWEGIAN knockouts – that’s the tagline associated with all-girl group Katzenjammer.
The four piece has been earning a reputation for putting on a good live show, wowing audiences at Glastonbury 2011 and two UK tours.
The girls are back to tout their mixed genre music – they cite everything from folk, country, pop, rock and traditional Balkan music in their bag of influences.
Although they’ve been on the European scene since 2005, Katzenjammer’s debut UK album was only released this year.
It received more critical acclaim than commercial success, earning a top 30 spot in the independent charts.
But it’s their live shows which seem to be the selling point – stomp-along parties where the girls switch instruments often.
As for the sound, Katzenjammer themselves describe it as: “like a dwarf driving a runaway truck without being able to reach the pedals”.
What more can be said than that?
