At a recent SPT operations committee 23 local bus service contracts worth a total contract value of more than £16 million were awarded.
This means that more than £31million of subsidised local bus contracts since the start of this year. The latest investment is in addition to the £15 million worth of contracts that SPT announced in January.
David Wilson, SPT operations committee chairman, said: “It is essential that communities across our region remain connected so that we all have the opportunity to engage with services whether for work and leisure across the West of Scotland. These services are often a lifeline for many at weekends and evenings.”
These latest contracts awarded affect East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, and West Dunbartonshire council areas. SPT currently subsidises 152 local bus services, helping to connect communities not served by the commercial market.
