Burton Menswear are lending their support to Prostate Cancer UK’s March for Men walking series this summer, in a bid to help stop men dying from prostate cancer.

Set to take place through June, the March for Men series includes 7 walks in UK city parks, including Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park event on Father’s Day (June 17).

The circular routes offer an optional 2k, 5k and 10k distance with everyone taking part receiving a t-shirt and medal.

Now the third biggest cancer killer in the UK, prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes, and inGlasgow 188 men a year die. Burton menswear will be showing their support by encouraging staff and customers to sign up and raise funds for vital research into the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

Glasgow’s Burton Menswear store in Buchanan Street will be showing their support by promoting the local March for Men series with flyers, fitting room posters, pin badges and a giant man of men in store.

Burton Menswear model, and former footballer and pundit, Jamie Redknapp is also showing his support for the cause, and said: “To hear that prostate cancer is now the third biggest cancer killer and that one man dies every 45 minutes from the disease is shocking. So, it’s an honour to be involved in Burton’s partnership with Prostate Cancer UK and to support the fantastic March for Men events across the UK this summer. As well as raising funds, this is a great way to raise awareness of prostate cancer too, and start conversations about men’s health.”

Mitch Hughes, Buying Director, Burton Menswear, said: “It’s an honour to support Prostate Cancer UK across this year’s March for Men. Thanks to the great work of the charity, the issue of prostate cancer has now become a national talking point. However, the hard work continues as we aim to raise more awareness and funds for this brilliant cause.”

James Beeby, associate director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “I’m thrilled that our March for Men series continues to gather momentum with the backing from Burton Menswear, and we thank all those involved, including Jamie Redknapp, for their support.

“One man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer in the UK, and thanks to the money raised through our partnership with Burton Menswear we can fund more ground-breaking research into early diagnosis and treatments to stop more men dying.

“The March for Men series of walks are a perfect step in the right direction to turn prostate cancer into a disease the next generation of men need not fear.”
