Glasgow South East Foodbank receives massive boost thanks to pupils at a Govanhill school
Generous Cuthbertson Primary School pupils and their familes have made a huge donation of over 1000 food items to the Glasgow South East Foodbank this Christmas.
The primary 4 classes worked together to set up a charities committee as part of their Learning for Sustainability projects.
They researched and selected the local foodbank as the school’s chosen charity this year.
Staff at the Govanhill school were overwhelmed as families donated over 1000 food items as part of their Christmas Jumper Day event.
Head teacher Lesley Murrie said: “Every year we raise money for different causes. This year we asked the P4 classes to take charge of the charities and fundraising. They have done an amazing job.
“Kindness is one our core values in school and they have really taken that to heart – I’m so proud of them for raising awareness of such an important local charity at what can be a difficult time of year.”
