The team behind an award-winning vegan kitchen in Glasgow has announced that it is set to take on a residency at the Glad Cafe.
The kitchen team behind much-loved west end hangout The Hug and Pint has kicked off their three month residency at the popular bar on Pollokshaws Road.
Complimenting the team’s existing brunch offering ‘Hen of the Woods’, which whips up vegan and vegetarian delights during the day at the popular hangout, the evening menu – styled on The Hug and Pint’s ever-popular rotating menu of pan-Asian cuisine – will bring an added bit of spice into the space.
Always evolving and changing, the menu will feature popular Hug and Pint favourites such as ‘Sichuan Tofu & Black Bean’, ‘Jackfruit Curry’, ‘Smashed Cucumber with Chilli & Peanuts’ and ‘Sweet Soy & Coconut Tempeh’ and will change daily.
Colin Campbell of 432 Presents and co-founder of the Hug and Pint: “We’ve been fortunate enough to work with our friends at The Glad Cafe for a few months now, developing our daytime offering as Hen of the Woods.
“Getting to know the locals in this area has been wonderful and there’s been an enthusiastic response from them so far.
“The addition of evening service in the style of our beloved Hug and Pint is something we’d always hoped would happen here, so we’re delighted that we now have the opportunity to provide the area with its first vegan restaurant, in a setting that fits us perfectly.”
Both kitchens are led by head chef Jake Martell, whose talent for satisfying diners has helped put The Hug and Pint firmly on the map not only in Glasgow, but according to the Hug and Pint team, internationally as well.
Campbell added: “We’re mega proud of our city and love to hear that even in the small ways of serving food, programming gigs or running The National Whisky Festival, we get to influence the decision of holidaymakers to come to Glasgow and see what the place is all about.”
