Horizon Cremation’s Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium in Dalry was named the Best Crematorium in Scotland at the 2019 Scottish Funeral Awards – beating all other facilities in the country to win the coveted accolade.

The Scottish Funeral Awards are an independent platform which recognise the broad and diverse range of people and organisations working within funeralcare.

The Best Crematorium Category recognises the highest levels of service and care, exceptional building design and use of technology, alongside excellence in ethics and environmental systems.

Jeremy Hamilton, director of Horizon Cremation, said: “We are incredibly pleased and proud that our Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley Crematorium has been named the best in Scotland.

“We set out to create a truly special facility, to provide exceptional care and support for families, and this prestigious award recognises the hard-work of our crematorium team and the ways in which we provide higher levels of care and compassion.

“By winning this award, we have set a new benchmark in terms of service and support, and we will be bringing this award-winning approach to our new crematorium at the Hurlet in East Renfrewshire.

“The Best Crematorium in Scotland Award also recognises the importance of the architecture and the interior design of the building, and how this helps lift the overall funeral experience.

“The design of our proposed crematorium at the Hurlet is directly based on the Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium and includes a number of architectural and internal design improvements.”

Construction of the new crematorium in East Renfrewshire is expected to begin early next year, with a completion date in Spring 2021.

Mr Hamilton added: “We will keep the community up to date on progress as we move forward.”
