South Lanarkshire Council will come to the long-awaited decision on whether or not to grant Owenstown planning permission, allowing 3500 new homes for a population of 8000 to be built on a site near Rigside along with shopping and leisure facilities, industries and a school.

Hometown Foundation director Bill Nicol said: “I met Nick Boles, the UK planning under-secretary, in London last week and he seemed very enthusiastic indeed about the whole concept.”
