Window to the Past: Down by Eglinton Toll
This should be an instantly recognisable scene for many who travel from the southside to the city centre.
It may be a bit difficult to get one’s bearings, however, as most of these structures are now a thing of the past. Nevertheless, if you can just make out the Lauriestone bar on the corner at the right of the picture, all will seem a little clearer.
The Wee Red Shop and Signs buildings — along with others to the left and not included in the pic — are long gone and are now grassy banks.
