Bruce Morton as El Presidente
Bruce Morton as El Presidente

Comedy godfather, Bruce Morton returns to Glasgow Southside with a brand new manifesto for the satirical political movement, The Greater Shawlands Republic (GSR) alongside poet and Jim Monaghan, as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2017.

Morton, having just finished a 14-night run as gallus gasfitter Malky Nicholson in Still Game Live 2 at The SSE Hydro, is hosting a one-off performance as GSR Treasurer with First Deputy Jim Monaghan at The Rum Shack on Pollokshaws Road.

The elusive El Presidente is also rumored to make a guest appearance.

This will be the first annual conference of the Greater Shawlands Republic and delegates are invited to bring their own motions.

The GSR was established in 2013 in the run up to the Scottish referendum, its stated aim to seek independence for the southside of Glasgow.

Expect an evening of political satire, stand-up comedy guests and possibly a few familiar political faces.

Ticket prices are £9, £6 concession (£25 for entryists).
