Smooth road to Vienna?

IT was a case of no pain, no gain for the Scotland U18 Boys at Clydesdale Hockey Club last weekend.

The Titwood-based team braved a sponsored leg wax, raising funds to travel to the EuroHockey U18 Nations Championships in Vienna this summer.

Head coach Graham Dunlop explained: “The boys have done incredibly well to qualify for the championships, but now we need to try and meet the cost of getting them to Europe.”

Hutchesons Grammar pupil and Clydesdale star Murray Collins added: “Leg waxing seemed a fun way for us to raise some of the money we needed – though, judging by the screams, perhaps some of the lads didn’t think it was that funny at the time!”

Fundraising will continue in the run-up to the championships, taking place in July, and all sponsorship is welcome.
