A 8-year-old from Newton Mearns is taking the ski world by storm.

Recently, the high-flying youngster was named as the British Indoor Grand Prix series most promising under 10 year old following a series of five races around Britain on indoor snow slopes.

Isla also came third in the British indoor slalom and second in the giant slalom

The St Cadoc’s pupil skis for Glasgow Ski racing at Bellahouston and she is now the current Scottish indoor Champion for both ski racing and freestyle skiing.

iN February, the primary four pupil travelled to Chamonix in France to train with the British Ski Academy and competed in “The Les Houche Kids Competition”, coming second in a ski cross and claiming gold in the freestyle event (under 12) against local French children.

Meanwhile, Giffnock’s David Bilsland - a member of the Scottish national freestyle ski team - has secured a £500 donation from - FirstGroup’s charity committee to help cover the cost of his training.

The 17-year-old former St Ninian’s pupil hopes to compete for Team GB in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
