Heavy overnight rain caused all eight scheduled top matches in the west of Scotland to be called off on Saturday.
The southside derby between NVT Poloc and Weirs was one of the first to fall, followed soon after by PSL Team Sports Clydesdale’s home game against APD Dumfries,
But two days earlier at Titwood, the first matches of the West League Cup were played, and neighbours Clydesdale and Poloc contested a closely-fought game.
Tall Scotland U19 seamer Haris Chaudhry played his part with an exemplary display of accurate yorkers and slower balls, while fellow teenager Ahmad Chaudhry (no relation) showed excellent glove work with two smart stumpings.
For Poloc, Nick Lafferty starred with a personal haul of four wickets, well supported by some excellent fielding, to help restrict the Clydesdale total to just 107-5, which was well under par.
Clydesdale wone by 17 runs. It felt closer and Poloc would players would be right to feel hard done by at the end.
