IT WAS two out of three victories for the top southside cricket clubs on a glorious day’s cricket weather last Saturday.
NVT Poloc rebounded from recent setbacks with a convincing 118-run away win over Kelburne at Whitehaugh. South African pro Carl Huyser led the way with a swashbuckling century for Poloc, well supported by Neil Lafferty’s 44 towards the final total of 255 for nine.
In reply, Kelburne were bundled out for just 137, Mohammed Saeed the chief destroyer with four wickets to give Poloc all ten points.
Weirs, who have surprised some sides this season, batted first against Ferguslie at Meikleriggs, but managed to post only a modest 158, of which Mo Iqbal made 78. The home side raced to a seven-wicket victory.
In the top Cricket Scotland Westy division, PSL Team Sports Clydesdale bounced back from last week’s only defeat of the season with another crushing win over depleted Ayr.
Former ‘Dale skipper Kasim Farid was in fine form with a belligerent 57, ably supported by young opener Paddy Barbour (39) and skipper Zeeshan Bashir (40). And internationalist Majid Haq weighed in with 4-10 to knock the stuffing out of the Ayr reply.
