Athletes across the southside will be marking Sunday, August 17 in their diaries.

That is the date for Giffnock North’s BBQ and Fun Competition.

The event has been organised to celebrate the end of the Commonwealth Games and is a resurrection of the club’s previous annual event which they called their ‘Fun Olympics’.

Tickets are available from coaches for the price of £5, to cover the BBQ.

It gives people a chance to come together — athletes and their families — for a fun competition at Braidholm.

The fun begins at 2pm.

A mixed team of seniors and juniors (from 11 up) will compete in approximately six event — gaining point to decide the overall winning team.

Events will include:

A short sprint for the sprinters. An obstacle race /over and under.

A slightly longer timed run round the blaes pitch and grass pitch with the overall team time counting for points.

Wee hurdles.

So make a date and come join in the fun. We need names and any dietary requirements.
