QP cling on to playoff hopes
Queen’s Park came home from Peterhead empty handed after a Rory McAllister double killed any hopes of three points for the Hampden side.
In a nightmare five minutes spell for the spiders in the second half, Rory McAllister netted twice, putting a dent in QP’s playoff hopes in the process.
On 24 minutes, the visitors had the first real chance, however, a dominant save by the Peterhead keeper blocked a bullet of a Martin McBride free-kick.
Before the second-half was over, QP did take the lead, when forward Sean Burns escaped tight marking to slot the ball into the bottom corner from six-yards.
However, the tides turned on the 62nd minute when the head of McAllister connected with a Graeme Sharp cross from the right wing to hit the back of the net from 12-yards.
Minutes later, a dubious tackle from Richard Little on Martin Bavidge inside the penalty area gave McAllister an opportunity from 12-yards, and the in-form striker made no mistake.
On Saturday, Queen’s Park host division three top dogs Alloa at Hampden at 3pm.
Pollok were out of action this weekend after a frozen pitch stopped the southsiders from being able to fulfill their fixture.
Instead, the Emirate Scottish junior cup fourth round fixture will take place this Saturday.
