Pirates sink Dundee
THE Pirates American football team continued to raise expectations for their debut at Whitecraigs as they blew out another opponent.
Dundee Hurricanes fell victim to the Pirates — despite them missing seven players who were on international duty.
The gridiron gang failed to settle into a rhythm so the first half fell victim to poor discipline, with both teams conceding too many penalties without nudging the scoreboard.
Midway through the third quarter the game changed when East Kilbride running back Blake Kyle scored six points with a powerful 35-yard run.
He repeated the feat on the next possession with an 11-yard run into the end zone.
Kyle made it 13-0 when he slotted home the extra point.
In the fourth quarter, an Andy Mackintosh pass found Kenny Muir in space and he powered through tacklers to score.
As time ticked by, Pirates outran the clock with back up quarterback Darren Brownlie adding two further scores.
Following the 33-0 win, the team will be brimming with confidence against Doncaster Mustangs at West Lodge on Sunday. Kick off, 2.30pm.
