Olympians stick it to the weather and pass on vital sporting advice

An all-star coaching staff time consisting of Beijing Olympian Laura Bartlett, Athens Olympian Graham Dunlop and Youth Olympian Kenny Bain coached 30 players at the spiders' hockey coaching programme.

The camp, run at the start of the school winter break at Craigholme's indoor facilities on Haggs Road, concentrated on developing players' technique basics in a fun, relaxed and enjoyable environment.

With all the Arctic weather it was an added bonus for the players to be playing some indoor hockey in the relative warmth.

Players from Primary 4 age up to the Secondary 3 age group took part.

Camp Director Euan Miller said:"The Indoor Camp was very popular and was built on the popularity of the highly successful October Camp.

"I hope that all the local youngsters who took part really enjoyed the coaching. It is unlikely to find such an all star coaching line up anywhere.

"Having coaches with Olympic and International experience is a real privilege and a real bonus for Spider Hockey and for the children who attend.

"It was nice to get playing indoor and to beat the big freeze. I hope that players enjoy the Spider Hockey Coaching Camps planned for February, Easter, summer and October as much as they did this one."
