Medal delight

GIFFNOCK NORTH AAC'S young sprint squads raced to four excellent medals at last weekend's national 4X100 relay championships at Pitreavie.

Under-17 girls Emma Brown, Katie McKnight, Monica Carlin and Roisin Howat were highest on the podium for the southside club with silver and the superb bonus of a superb new club record of 50.69 seconds for the one-lap event.

Following up with bronze in the U17 boys event were Angus Lauder, Matthew Cumming, Craig Walker and Grant Woodhouse, who also re-wrote the Giffnock record books with a blistering 45.01 seconds effort.

Two more bronzes were won: U15 girls Amy Maxwell, Lauren Lambie, Nikki Manson and Petrena Marshall posted 52.87 seconds for theirs; and U13 girls Rachel Alexander, Helena Davison, Heather Scott and Megan Adams earned their medals with a 57.39 seconds race.
