Giffnock Saltire enjoy run of excellent form

GIFFNOCK Soccer Centre’s 1996 team Saltire continued with their good form this season and made it into the quarter finals of the West of Scotland cup.

Saltire had chances in the first half with Paul McKerns through on goal on a couple of occasions and some close shooting from Fraser Brash.

The second half began with an outstanding save from Giffnock’s keeper, Stephen McPhee, who tipped the ball onto the top left bar when a goal looked a certainty.

Frustration crept into the Mossvale play with one player shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

With the player advantage, Saltire pressed home an advantage.

Late sub Ross Wilson used his first touch of the ball to score in the bottom left hand corner and secure a 1-0 win.
