Game hit by weather

WHITECRAIGS' game against Annan was cancelled in a week when the majority of sport was defeated by adverse weather.

A mouth-watering rematch with Dalziel is all the motivation head coach Jim Henderson needs in preparation for this weekend's opening Scottish Cup clash.

Having lost out twice in the league to the Lanarkshire side, Henderson would love another crack at his bogey team.

Craigs will make the long trip north to Caithness on Saturday for the first round of the national competition.

Despite being a massive 15 places above their opponents Henderson admits it will be "a difficult test for us"

He told ExtraSport: "Anyone going up there has to encounter the long bus journey first and then get in the right frame of mind to play a game.

"They have some good players and it was a difficult game up there last year in the league.

"But at the same time, I like the fact that this year the Scottish Cup is being contested by the national league teams.

"This competition gives us the chance to get all the way to Murrayfield and it would be a great clash if we were to face Dalziel again.

"But there's always a banana skin in the fixtures as well and it could go wrong for us so we have to keep performing well".

Meanwhile star stand-off Ally Stevenson received some good news this week after being called up to the Scotland under-19s training squad.

It is a massive boost to the 18-year-old, who has been in tremendous form this season, because last year the national selectors overlooked him.

Whitecraigs match against Caithness at Millburn kicks off at 2.30pm, to allow for extra time to be played if necessary.
