Cup hopes survive

The Emirates Scottish Junior Cup third round draw was made this week, and Pollok have landed a trip to familiar territory as they will head to Glenafton Athletic’s Loch Park to do battle for a place in the last 32 of the competition.

The tie is scheduled to take place on Saturday November 17 with kick-off set for 1.45pm.

This week however, Lok must continue to focus on the league, with a visit from Shotts Bon Accord on the agenda.

During Pollok’s weekend trip to Beith, the Newlandsfield side continued their unbeaten run with a 2-2 draw.

The Ayrshire boys put their noses in front when Mackie scored after six minutes but McQuilken scored on the stroke of half time to draw the sides level.

Beith were again in front after 68 minutes but McQuilken grabbed his second and secured the draw seven minutes from the end.

In just eight league games, Pollok have already drawn five games but will hope for a win against bottom dogs Shotts. The Newlandsfield side currently sit in ninth place of the Stagecoach West of Scotland league super league premier division.

Meanwhile Queen’s Park are set for a replay against Stranraer after a 1-1 cup draw on Saturday.

It was Craig Malcolm who scored for the home side on the 72nd minute.

With the scores 0-0 at half time, David Anderson scored in the bottom right hand corner - his first goal for the club - to give the Spiders the lead.

There’s a big prize waiting for the winners of Saturday’s Scottish Cup replay at Hampden. The victors between Queen’s and Stranraer will face SPL side Dundee United at home in the next round.

The tie is scheduled for Saturday, December 1. Meanwhile, the QP league fixture against East Stirling, postponed this Saturday because of the cup replay, will now take place at Hampden on Tuesday, November 13, with a 7.30pm kick-off.
