Cup boost for Lok
POLLOK'S league campaign ended in defeat when Irvine Meadow won 3-1 at Newlandsfield Park on Saturday.
But on Monday night on the same pitch Lok booked a central league quarter-final berth with a 7-0 demolition of Port Glasgow.
Bryan Dingwall helped himself to four goals, Shaun Dillon bagged a brace, and Jojo Connolly netted his first Lok strike.
But it was a different story on Saturday. Meadow took the lead on14 minutes after Craig Baxter misjudged a long clearance from Chris McGowan.
The awkward bounce fell kindly for Richie Barr, who slotted home with ease.
Pollok could have pulled level in the 22nd minute when a dangerous cross by Dillon was headed back across goal by John Sweeney, but Robert Downs volleyed over the bar.
Gareth Turner fired a drive goalwards in the 31st minute, but Gerry Joyce deflected it over.
Meadow doubled their advantage five minutes before the interval. Lok were left short of numbers at the back after a Joyce foray upfield and Gavin Friels took full advantage to pick out the postage stamp corner of the net from 30 yards.
Pollok's hopes of a comeback were rocked within seven minutes of the restart. Andy McClay became involved in an exchange with Chris Strain and both players were booked.
However, when Frank Connor adjudged him to have fouled McGinty moments later the referee flashed a second yellow card, and then a red.
Lok pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute when Connolly fired across goal for Dingwall to turn and shoot past Michael Wardrope.
Pollok were then reduced to eight men with two red cards in succession.
Dingwall became involved in an altercation with John Dillon after 81 minutes that earned him a second booking.
He was joined two minutes later by Sweeney, also seeing yellow for a second time after a foul on visiting keeper Wardrope.
Meadow's numerical advantage counted with five minutes left. Stephen Swift released Ryan on the right, and although substitute John Paul Boyle couldn't make proper contact with his cross, Gavin Friels was perfectly positioned to sweep home at the far post.
