A primary five pupil at Carolside is taking the table tennis world by storm.
Jennie Yang from Clarkston took part in the Scottish primary school table tennis championships, reaching the semi-finals in singles and claiming a doubles victory with her partner Emma Rhind.
The nine-year-old was one of the youngest of the 24 girls participating in the event and is now qualified to represent Scotland for the British Primary School event to be held in April 2012 at Largs National Sports Centre.
Jennie told ExtraSport: “This was only the second national event I had participated in so there was little expectation going into the competition.
“So to achieve this has made me very proud. It will encourage me to get better in the sport and hopefully I will have more opportunities to represent Scotland at international events in the future”.
Jennie is a member of the East Kilbride table tennis club where her big brother Justin Yang also plays.
The Williamwood high school pupil was recently ranked third in Scotland under 13.
