St Cadocs Youth Club staged their first annual Gala Charity Dinner recently, which was a resounding success.

The progressive community club is based in East Ren and is growing fast with more than 770 kids now playing both football and netball.

The Dinner raised a fantastic £24,000 for charity partners, Beatson Cancer and St Andrews Hospice. Both organisations were delighted to be involved and are pictured receiving cheques for £8000 each from the Club, while the remaining £8,000 will be invested back into the club for the benefit of local kids at grassroots level.

The Club were delighted when Rangers FC‘s Kenny Miller and PFA Scotland’s Fraser Wishart agreed to support the event and hand over the cheques.

On the night 360 guests were entertained by Host & MC Tam Cowan in his capacity as Hospice Ambassador.

A number of football personalities gave up their time to attend, including Lisbon Lion Bertie Auld and a host of ex Celts Murdo MacLeod, Andy Walker, Tommy Coyne, Billy Stark and Willie McStay.

Current players included ex AC Milan and Celtic star Massimo Donati, Stephen Pearson, John Rankin, Ryan Stevenson, St Johnstone duo Liam Craig and Zander Clark and Hamilton captain Mikey Devlin. Ex Hibs Captain Stuart Lovell completed the star line up for the evening.

The Club are very grateful to everyone who attended and supported the event.
