WELL the league may be wrapped up in a nice little bundle, but there’s still the problem of the Scottish Cup to contend with for the ladies of Glasgow City.

But it proved not to be much of a problem as they, and their closes rivals in the league, Hibernian, got through at the weekend.

For City it seemed a breeze as they triumphed 3-0 over rivals Celtic.

It now sets up a final between the Hibees and City at Broadwood stadium on November 17.

The emphatic win should also inspire confidence in the team as they prepare for their Champions League tie with Standard Liege — which took place as The Extra was going to print on Wednesday.

It was thanks to goals from Jo Love, SuzanneMulvey and Suzanne Lappin.

First on the scoresheet was Jo Love who let loose a fantastic strike on 22 minutes.

The ball hit the top corner of the net from 25 yeards out.

Sensational play from the midfielder.

But City had to wait until the 73rd minute before adding to their tally when a great ball from Suzanne Lappin sent Suzanne Mulvey through on goal and the City striker shot expertly past the outrushing Gemma Fay into the bottom corner to give her side a two-goal cushion.

Then it was Lappin’s turn to seal the match.

Lappin netted just before the final whistle after being set up by Ruesha Littlejohn.

But now, with the Scottish Cup business settled for the meantime, all eyes were on the trip to Belgium and a visit to Standard Liege.

The team set out for Belgium on Monday, meeting at Edinburgh airport at 12.30pm for the flight at 2.30pm.

After having settled into their hotel, the team had a training session at the Standard Liege Academy from 7.30pm until 8.30pm.

Then, today, it was back to the Academy for two training sessions — one in the morning between 11am and 12.30pm then one in the evening between 7pm and 8pm.

The squad have a further two matches to get through, away to Spartans and at home to Aberdeen. They will, however, be awarded the league title at home this Sunday.

KO is at 1.30pm.
