NEWTON Mearns athlete Erin Wallace captured the Olympic spirit by winning gold on Saturday.
The first year pupil claimed victory when she won the Scottish girls (11-12 years) triathlon title at Bellahouston park.
In perfect weather conditions, Erin was lying in second place after the swimming and cycling.
However, once running began, she soon took a commanding lead and went on to win easily — completing the course faster than all of her male counterparts.
Erin is set to challenge herself against tougher competion when she represents Scotland in next month’s inter-regional championships in Newcastle.
And there was more southside success as Giffnock North’s Neil Gourley was another Scottish winner in the Under-18 800m at Saturday’s Celtic games.
