Eastwood win on penalties

Eastwood Juveniles produced the perfect end to the season when they defeated Mossvale and St James Boys Club 5-4 on penalties to win the Division 2 League Cup at the King George V Playing Fields in Renfrew.

In a match with many twists and turns Eastwood were behind 3 times before eventually going ahead only to concede a goal in the last minute that took the game to penalties.

Mojams took the lead after only four minutes. Eastwood keeper Ryan Truesdale made great diving save on 13 minutes to keep the one goal deficit.

Eastwood equalised after 23 minutes when a Josh Jess free kick found the net with the aid of a slight deflection. Eastwood were well on top at this stage and created a number of chances. The Mojams keeper produced a great save on 25 minutes from a Josh Jess header.

Mojams regained the lead three minutes after the re-start with a goal that looked suspiciously offside.

Eastwood equalised after 56 minutes when Luke Hamilton headed home a Josh Jess free kick. Mojams went ahead again on 59 minutes with a well taken goal after Eastwood had lost possession in midfield.

The scores were level on 63 minutes when top scorer Caleb Reid fired home his 33rd goal of the season. Eastwood went ahead for the first time on the night on 70 minutes.

Caleb Reid drove in from the left before delivering a great cross for Jack Agnew to hammer the ball into the net.In the final minute of the game Eastwood conceded a needless free kick on the edge of the box and were made to pay when Mojams equalised with a header from a free kick.
