Eastwood Juveniles continued their fine New Year form with a comprehensive 6-2 victory against Newark Boys Club.
Matt Murphy opened the scoring with a stunning strike from the edge of the box.
The second goal came in 12 minutes from a move down the right involving Lewis McTaggart and Matt Murphy.The latters cross being volleyed home by top scorer Tommy Duffy.
The third goal was delayed a few minutes when Tommy Duffy finished after another fine cross from Matt Murphy.
The first half scoring was completed on the 25th minute when Kieren Fitzpatrick picked-up a loose ball before curling a shot high into the net.
The second half continued in a similar vein and within three minutes of the restart Eastwood were 5 goals up.A great pass inside the right full back from Gavin Campbell found Elliot MacKenzie who finished well.
It would have been easy for Newark to throw in the towel at this stage but to their credit they continued to fight hard.
This extra determination combined with a drop from Eastwood allowed Newark back into the game and on 45 minutes they pulled a goal back.
With 10 minutes remaining Elliot MacKenzie made it 6-1 when his shot was deflected past the keeper.
The scoring was completed in the 65th minute when Newark scored their secon, despite appeals for offside.
