Dundee dynasty at Titwood

MILNE Craig Western managed a 1-1 draw against Grove Menzieshill at Titwood on Saturday, but it was not enough to prevent an inevitable ninth successive league Asset Management National League Division 1 title going to the Dundee champions.

So the Western women then had to do battle with CALA Edinburgh the following day at Titwood, to clinch the second European competitive place ahead of rivals Edinburgh University. They duly did the business, but by the slenderest of margins in a single-goal game.

As the hockey season draws gently to a conclusion, Western also have an Arthur McKay Scottish Cup semi-final against CALA to worry about - in Edinburgh this Saturday, with the final at Peffermill in May the reward for a hard-working season under skipper Catriona Ralph.
