Craigs lose out to Ayr

WHITECRAIGS rugby club were back in action on Friday at old Anniesland.

The newly-promoted premier two side finished in fourth place in the annual David Williams trophy tournament.

The southsiders got off to a promising start, drawing with premier one giants Hawks and then defeating Glasgow Accies.

However, Craigs were knocked out of trophy contention on points difference and lost to Ayr in their final game.

Glasgow Hawks defeated GHK in the final, 14-7.

On Saturday, Whitecraigs will face club legend Stevie Swindall when the first XV visit Stirling County.

The former Glasgow Warriors back-row forward began his career at Whitecraigs and is now back in Scotland with Stirling after a year playing in coaching in Milan.

GHA are away to Falkirk on Saturday for their first pre-season game.
