POLLOK finished the season on a disappointing note after stuttering to defeat by Irvine Meadow last week.

It was the Glasgow side who threatened early on, with Andy Essler heading wide from a Joe Carruth cross after only two minutes.

Kris Robertson was called into action to hold a Richie Barr header from an Emilio Jaconelli cross in the 20th minute,
but he failed to stop his side falling behind seven minutes later.

Stevie Docherty nodded the ball over the 'Lok rearguard, and as they appealed in vain for offside Chris Robertson drilled a low shot beyond his namesake to open the scoring.

The returning Davie Turnbull then headed wide from a Carruth cross, and Carruth was again the provider when he cut the ball back to Brian MacKay after 36 minutes, but the young winger fired over.

Dingwall had a chance after the break, but couldn't convert and it took Lok until 69 minutes to register another shot on goal, and a late push by Derek Wingate also proved fruitless.

The defeat meant the Newlandsfield club ended the season with just a solitary trophy — the Central District Cup — to its name.

It was a sad end to the club's centenary season on the field, but off it, the events still continued with a successful player of the year awards ceremony and centenary dinner on Friday night.

The current squad was joined by some Pollok legends from the Scottish Cup winning teams of the past, including the goal hero from Lok's first-ever Scottish Cup win in 1981 — Norrie Fulton.

Top goalscorer was Bryan Dingwall, who struck a formidable 36 times this term.

Dingy also picked up the players' player trophy while club members voted the player of the year was Stevie Miller.
