FORMER Scotland Under-19 World Cup all-rounder Harmanjit Singh will be Clydesdale cricket club's new first team captain next summer.
He celebrated the good news by picking up the club's Batsman of the Year award recently after scoring more than 600 runs in all competitive matches during the summer of 2009.

Bowler of the year was 21-year-old Glasgow-born off-spinner Zeeshan Bashir, who is widely expected to become Clydesdale's next full internationalist.

The Aberdeen University pharmacy student topped the club's wicket-takers in the national league, and also showed his considerable promise as a batsman, coming second in the season-long club averages.

Second team skipper Tim Hart plied his left-arm spin to good effect to top his team's effective bowling strategy that brought promotion back to the Western Union's first division.

Promising 16-year-old Sam Page headed the young side's batting table after a string of impressive and often match-winning innings.
