HAMMERING eight goals past East Craigie on Saturday still didn't make Pollok the top scorers in the Scottish junior cup first round.
Despite the awesome total, Auchinleck put the 'Lok's feat in the shade with a 13-1 demolition of Ninian St Nairn's.

Nevertheless, regardless of the margins, both sides find themselves in the second round of the competition, where the Newlandsfield side will meet Culter.

The tie, due to be played on November 1, will be at Crombie Park, Peterculter — Pollok's ninth consecutive away tie in the competition.

Culter's most famous player, former Aberdeen, Ayr and Inverness midfielder Hugh Robertson, someone 'Lok's latest signing came up against during his time in the Premier League.

Shaun Dillon has signed for the 'Lok from Irvine Meadow. Formerly of Kilmarnock, the 24-year-old plays mainly as a left-back and adds even more top level experience to the Newlandsfield defence.

Despite his new team-mates' disappointment of slipping out of the senior Scottish Cup last week, they retruned to the juniors with aplomb and fired eight past hapless Craigie keeper Ryan Mitchell on Saturday.

Brian Mackay made his long awaited return from injury and David McGeown gave the visitors the lead with a low strike past Mitchell two minutes into the game. Davie Turnbull doubled the lead five minutes later, volleying home Andy Essler's corner.

Bryan Dingwall knocked in number three — the first of his own strike trio. By the time the half-time whistle blew, Lok were 5-0 up after Richie Newall's free-kick and Andy Essler's shot added to the tally.

Newall drilled another past Mitchell after the break and Dingwall knocked in two more to earn the match ball and a formidable scoreline for the black and whites.

The win lifts 'Lok after last week's disappointment and gives them a boost ahead of Saturday's sterner test — Benburb at Tinto park. Kick off for the West of Scotland cup match is 2pm.
