CLYDESDALE'S internationalist Qasim Sheikh has made a good start to his winter in Pakistan.
He has joined the Academy set-up of the Customs club in Karachi, and aims to become the first Scottish-born cricketer to play in a first-class game in Pakistan's domestic league.
In his first fixture of Pakistan's inter-academy tournament, the 24-year-old left-hander made a match-winning 70 batting at number four, including four sixes, the top scorer for his side.
Also in Pakistan is Sheikh's 20-year-old club mate Zeeshan Bashir, although he is not attached to a first-class club.
The off-spinner is taking a year out from his pharmaceutical studies at Aberdeen University, and has yet to make an impact with the ball. But the budding all-rounder scored a century in his first game in Lahore, batting at number seven.
