Window to the Past: The Star Tea Rooms

IN THE days long before social interaction meant firing up the smart phone, tablet or computer, people would meet face to face.

A popular spot for this kind of real-world interaction would be a cafe or tea room.

Here we have the Star Tea Rooms which was sited in Newton Mearns’ old Main Street and depicts a group of peopleposing outside with some children.

The tea rooms was situated across the road from the old post office and this picture was taken either in the late 19th or early 20th century.
