Programmers at Eastwood Park theatre are getting ready for this year’s early years festival which will run from the July 2-9.
Arts development officer Fiona Ferguson told The Extra: “We have had such success with early years shows over the past year, and the idea festival has basically grown from the positive feedback we have had from mums who have been delighted with their young one’s reactions to the performances”.
There is a whole range of activities and performances for 0-5 year olds, including the Incredible Swimming Choir.
Mother of two Claire Smith said her sons Aidan (4) and Aaron (20 months) especially enjoyed We Dance, Wee Groove.
She added: “It’s like a different world for the children with all the magical lighting and effects.
“It is absolutely lovely and very inclusive for kids of different ages.
“Eastwood Park Leisure Centre is a great venue with a café, with craft workshops, films, it’s in a park, there is a swimming pool and great parking too.
“It’s the perfect venue for this type of event. Kids love it and it’s so easy for mums to manage.”
There will be the world’s biggest bookbug session, early years music and dance sessions, a creative play workshop as well as art and storytelling sessions.
There will also be family film screenings plus mini kickers, mini athletics and gym teds.
Programmes will be available shortly with ticket information and times.
