Friday July 17

BARRHEAD First Steps. From Barrhead Foundry from 9.30am. The walk will take up to one hour at a moderate pace. Meeting place within entrance to the Foundry.

RUN the Blades - a new ultramarathon - takes place at Whitelee Windfarm. 10am start and entry is £40. Challenging course across mixed moorland, forests and past wind turbines towering 140m above.

FOOD festival at Princes Square.Stock up on dishes from around the world, taking in the Med, Caribbean, USA and some fine Scottish fare alongside a pop up craft beer garden at Square Street Food - runs today and tomorrow.

NIGHT of new music at The Glad Cafe. Melodic sounds, heartfelt yet catchy hooks and hints of folk, jazz, soul from Mark Copeland, Kat Healy, Flew the Arrow and Rae Garrity.

Sunday July 19

CLASSIC cinema for grown ups at The Burrell Collection. Today’s free film is a mythical voyage to recover a magic sheepskin. Adventure through ancient Greece from 2pm - no need to book.

SUMMER holiday fun continues at The Avenue, noon-4pm. This week (Mon-Thurs), Sand Art Bottle Buddies with four different characters - Minecraft Steve, Minion Stuart, Hello Kitty or Captain America - to choose from.

Tuesday July 21

EASTWOOD Park - First Steps from 9.30am meeting within the café area.

BARRHEAD Walking Group meet from 9.45am (for a longer walk at a moderate pace) meeting outside the main door of the Foundry.

NEILSTON Walkers from 10am (for a longer walk at a moderate pace throughout the Countryside) meeting within The Bank café.

FIRST Steps from 10.30am (for beginners up to 45 minutes) meeting within Auchenback Resource Centre café.

BIG butterfly count at Whitelee Windfarm. Join the countryside rangers and help them record their winged visitors from 1-3pm. Free event held at Ardochrig. Booking required - call 614 0962 for more info, and dress for the weather.
