POLICE are urging witnesses to come forward after a man was seriously assaulted in Pollok.
Around 4.50pm, the victim was walking past an off licence on Levernside Road last Friday when he was attacked from behind by men carrying weapons.
Following the attack, one of the men made off across the bridge that connects Levernside Road and Brockburn Crescent while the other got into a silver-coloured hatchback which then drove off.
The victim had been on his way to a friends house nearby when the attack happened.
He was then taken to the Southern General hospital where he was treated for head and hand injuries before being released.
One of the suspects is described as being white and between 5ft 9ins and 6ft tall.
He was wearing a blue Adidas tracksuit top with stripes down the sleeves, black tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and black, skip cap.
The other suspect is described as also being white and between 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10ins tall.
He had black hair and was wearing a black, long-sleeved top and black bottoms.
Detective constable Jackie Carroll of Giffnock CID, in charge of the inquiry, said: “We are treating this as an unprovoked attack and would like to reassure the local community that we are working hard to identify the persons responsible.
“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this attack, which took place on a busy road at a peak time in the afternoon for rush-hour traffic and people making their way home from work.
