SNP MP for Glasgow South, Stewart McDonald, will undertake a morning surgery tour of train stations across his constituency in September.
The UK Parliament goes in to recess on September 15th for party conference season, and Stewart wants to make the most of that time by getting out and about around his constituency. Scheduled monthly surgeries will still go ahead as normal.
Stewart McDonald said: “Any recess from Parliament is vital time for me to be available to my constituents, and it’s important that I get out there to meet with them in their local areas.
“I’ve decided to reach out to morning rail commuters in particular, who can sometimes struggle to find the time to come and see their MP during the week as they are often working, studying or have other commitments.
“The idea is that they’ll be able to raise an issue with me before they catch the train and I’ll be able to get to work on their behalf with whatever their issue is.
“It’ll be great to get around so much of the constituency in a short space of time. I am also planning two ‘Meet your MP’ events for the public to come along and question me about what is happening at Westminster or here in the constituency.
“I said when I was elected that I wanted to be the most publicly available MP that the Southside has ever had and that’s why I am always looking for new ways to reach out those that I was elected to work for at the general election.”
