During the summer months a number of sheep have been stolen from Bonnignton Moor in Eaglesham.

The sheep belong to a local farmer who is concerned for the welfare of his animals, especially after one was found injured and required veterinary attention.

A spokesperson for the police said: “It is believed the animals are not being treated humanely and this type of crime not only has a financial impact on the farmer it presents a danger to the public if meat is being sold on and its preparation and storage cannot be confirmed or verified.”
