Susan Boyle back on home turf

THERE can be few Scots who don’t know the name Susan Boyle by now - but how many have seen her live?

That number is on the increase this week, as the Blackburn lass stages the Glasgow leg of her first live tour.

The singer who wowed (and surprised) Britain’s Got Talent judges and audience alike appears at the King’s Theatre on Monday and Tuesday night, backed by her own big band.

Susan explained: “I’m really looking forward to getting on stage and singing with my band for an entire show.

“This is the year that I feel I’d be able to give an audience what they want. I’ve always wanted to do my own show and now I feel confident enough to give it a go.

“If this works well, the world is my oyster and 2014 will be a global tour. But I wanted to begin in Scotland to say thank you for all the support I’ve been shown over the past few years. It feels right to begin another new experience in my home country.”

The seven-night Scottish tour will include a selection of songs from previous albums, as well as “new songs, not only that I have wanted to perform for years, but that resonate with me - and I hope my fans will love”.

There will, of course, be the song which made the multi-platinum singer famous — I Dreamed a Dream — as well as Wild Horses, Somewhere Over the Rainbow and River Deep, Mountain High, plus a few surprises.

And if Ms Boyle is know for one thing, well, it’s a surprise showstopping performance...

Susan Boyle appears at the King’s on Monday and Tuesday (July 8-9), from 8pm. Tickets are £27.50-£42.50 from 0844 871 7648 or www.atgtickets.com/glasgow.
