THE weather outside might still be frightful, but at Mearns Kirk, the flowers were in full bloom last weekend.

The Mearns Horticultural Society held its 67th spring show on Saturday as part of a joint event celebrating the kirk’s 200th year in the current building.

The show was opened by reverend Joe Kavanagh, and visitors were treated to a wonderful display of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and crocuses, as well as crafts, children’s activities and home baking courtesy of the ladies of the church.
