Artwork designed by Southside artist Stephen O’Neil has been chosen to represent Shawlands’ BID campaign.
Stephen O’Neil’s design was handpicked following a competition encouraging local artists to create a design to promote Shawlands’ BID campaign, My Shawlands.
The image will be used on all My Shawlands communication including website, leaflets, posters and banners.
Stephen O’Neil’s artwork, which is inspired by urban landscapes, iconic Scottish images and the architecture of both Glasgow and Edinburgh, is recognised by the artist’s use of bold block colours.
Stephen O’Neil said: “I’m really pleased my design has been chosen. I have lived in the area for the past 17 years and feel the image of the town cross, a point where most Southsiders walk and drive through on a daily basis, signifies the heart of Shawlands.”
Lisa McLaughlin, Shawlands BID coordinator said: ‘We were looking for a contemporary design which would capture the heritage of the town and its people. Without a doubt Stephen’s design ticks all of those boxes.
“The response to the competition has been terrific and I thank everyone involved.”
