Youngsters are flocking to a new skate park in Barrhead’s Cowan Park, designed in part by local ‘boarders and bikers.

The £90,000 park received £75k in funding from Wren, a not-for-profit company which awards grants to community projects.

Mark Brand, of East Renfrewshire Council, said: “This new park is jam-packed with 14 separate features. Skateboarders came together with BMX riders on a design to meet everyone’s aspirations and the result is brilliant.”

Peter Cox, Wren managing director, added: “The skate park will provide a fantastic place for local young people to get outdoors and be active.”
