CARS worth more than £100,000 were stolen in Newton Mearns on Monday night.

A Porsche and a Mercedes were taken from outside a house on Easdale Place.

As well as the cars, several electronic items were also stolen.

Access was gained to the vehicles after car keys were removed from inside the house.

Inspector Alan Dickson told The Extra: “Thefts of this nature had really begun to die away. This is one of the first instances this year.

“We are very alert to the problem and have increased police presence in the area.

“We advise local people to be as careful as possible when it comes to keeping their car keys in a safe, discreet place.”

Anybody with any information on the incident can contact the police by calling 101.
