A sports shop in Muirend are going the extra mile to ensure that the vulnerable in our community are well shod this winter with a decent pair of shoes.

Migo Sports’ aim is to collect second hand shoes which will be passed onto those in need, and, if the donator needs a new pair, they will receive 10 per cent off the price.

The idea is the brainchild of Michael Gowans, owner of Migo Sports, who told The Extra: “Shoes can be handed in any day to the store in the run up to Christmas and will be distributed at regular intervals to those in need over the winter months.

“There are numerous charities who could benefit from such an initiative in Glasgow, especially at this time of year as the cold winter weather sets in.”

Following talks, Migo Sports has selected charities in the Glasgow area which help the homeless, the vulnerable and sporting initiatives, who will make great use of the donations.

Almost 100 pairs of shoes have been collected so far with the hope of many more.
